My Grandmother and the Farm

This is Cal on my grandparents farm in Oregon. Little boys, no matter how young love motorized vehicles, or anything that represents freedom.
This is my Grandmother on her farm with her tulips. She loves flowers.

This is my birthday a year ago (turning 48) with my 2 youngest girls, Hannah and Emily and Grandma.
I have to say, not many women my age, nearly 49, still have their Grandma. I am blessed to have her. Isn't she cute? She will be 88 in April.

On the farm we also got ride horses.

This is from 1974 when my parents gave Grandpa a horse for his birthday.

In 1980, we watched Mt St Helen's blow its top. Here it is a double rainbow.

Yesterday, I had a nice visit with my Grandma. I brought her these tulips. With the snow we had, I thought spring flowers would be cheery.

She has made lot of meals for my family over the years. I wanted to share a meal and brought homemade lasagna...

she had a Cesear Salad mix in her fridge...

and garlic toast to make it complete. It was a very restful, pleasant day. She talked of all the fun we used to have on the farm when family would come to visit and how much she misses family gatherings. I love time spent with my Grandma. It reminded me how important grandparents are to the family and I am so glad my children are able to spend precious time with theirs. Although I've mentioned the farm, it wasn't the farm that meant so much to us, it was that we could spend time together as family that mattered. As the kids have grown, it is difficult to find time to go visit. Often I go alone to see her. It really makes her day to have family over. I think other cultures have it right when they honor their elderly and I see it missing in many families.

You are so right, my husband will be 49 and I'll be 48 this year and both of us no longer have any living Grandparents.
Your Grandma is a doll, give her a big hug for me wishing her a happy birthday.
You are so blessed.
