Chair Redo

This is a cute, but old chair I picked up at a second hand store. I loved it at first sight because it is a low profile but comfortable looking chair. My house is lacking in comfortable seating because it's so small and we have so many people in it that we conserve space by having few, space saving furniture pieces.

Behind this little chair, you see it's twin covered in a cloth. Another factor I loved about this chair is that it came with a matching twin. But I have decided to take the advice from this tutorial @ Pink and Polka Dot and make my own slipcover.

I had a fear of cutting the fabric but I did as she said and draped, pinned, basted, then...I cut the fabric. I used the same fabric she suggests and bought duck cloth in natural. She is right about it being less then $5 a yard at Wal-Mart. For this chair I bought 6 yards and used nearly all of it. I spent all Sunday afternoon getting this far. I finished the machine sewing Monday evening after a full day at work. I think the project was fun but also an outlet for me.

Here is the finished product. Now I am brave enough for the twin chair. That will be another weekend project.

You did a great job on your slip, know how difficult they can be. But so worth the trouble when you finish them.

Hi Lor- You did a great job!! I would have the same fear of cutting the material even after it had been pined. I know you are loving the finished product! Great job!
