A Birthday Trip

Last weekend was Emily's birthday. We were taking a trip away from home and as we passed this place, this is where Emily decided to have her birthday dinner. She had never been here before. I had never been here before, and as you can see, we had a silly time as a family.
When we sat down to dinner, I asked our server if there was anything special for a birthday girl. This elephant made from foil on Em's head is their "special" treat.

Here she is with her dad. It was all pretty fun and memorable. We laughed so hard while this little foil elephant hat was being created on her head.

We had so much fun spending time together. Here is Amy telling a story. Amy's husband, Keoki was keeping the home fires burning, and she came with us while we traveled to the Oregon coast. Amy is expecting a baby and we are sooooo very excited!! She had fun hangingout with us and her younger sisters.
You can see the very pretty octopus necklace Amy is wearing. Its a gift from her husband. Amy loves Octopi.(? or is it octopus')

I am very happy to also share, Amy will not be diving while pregnant!! Oh, yes, I am a happy grandma to be.

The one food we loved were these, deep fried dill pickles!!

Here is my little happy group.

After our fun, eating dinner, we traveled through Portland and I snapped these through our car window. It is Rose Festival time. I miss the Rose Festival Parade, Fleet week and the fun on the Tom McCall Riverfront.

In this picture you can barely see the orange line in the river around the ships. This is designed to protect the river in the event there is a hazardous leak from the boat. Amy was well aquainted with this as she had been a part of operating the system in her line of work as a commercial deep sea diver.
**And yes, I will say it again, I am so happy Amy is taking a break from the hazardous work of the boating/diving industry. But, I am a mom and I am entitled :) Amen!!
