Gunnar is doing very well. I have received some questions through email and I will attempt to answer them here. Gunnar is continues to thrive and grow and improve. His feedings are being increased by a 3 cc's every day. Today he drank 27 cc's and midnight tonight it will be up to 30cc's. He is working up to trying nursing soon. Meanwhile Amy is pumping and freezing her milk. Keoki, her husband has gone out and purchased a freezer which is getting full already. Amy expects she may need to return to work at some point and the stored milk will come in handy.
As far as leaving the hospital, that will happen when Gunnar can take 63 cc's at a time and is poohing on his own. An accomplishment task! Many gastroschisis babies have bumps along the way with tummy troubles and intestinal blockages. Not Gunnar. God has blessed him with a very smooth transition. I think its the result of many prayer warriors. Not sure the exact date but it looks like in about a week.
Amy is living at the hospital and doing very well despite not being at home. The enviroment here has been very comfortable and family oriented. They support the family in many ways. The food isn't even bad. I've enjoyed my routine of walking to the cafeteria for dinner on my nights visiting Amy and the baby.
Keoki has been continuing to attend school full-time and it's mid-terms now. He has been pulled in many different directions and he is doing suprisingly well. He has many projects at home preparing to bring home his little family. Kudos to a new daddy!!
This weekend we are preparing for a visit from some grandparents. Gunnar is all excited to meet more family.
I've kept my camera and computer at the hospital for Amy to use so I am behind in posting more current pictures. I will get it all caught up soon.
Thank you for your continued interest and prayers.
Lori~
