With Grandpa and Grandma

Its been a little more than 24 hours post surgery. He has been extubated and has a little swelling in his airway. He sounds a little wheezy with the swelling. This should clear up in another 24 hours. He sounds good, otherwise. His doctor says Gunnar is doing well and if he continues doing well, he'll be able to leave the NICU soon.
Again, thank you to everyone for your prayers.

The looks of all these wires and tubes still look so scarry. At least we can hold him and there is no longer a bag holding his organs. We are pleased to see his belly button swelling go down.

I spoke to one of his nurses tonight and she said his healing will be a process. Before he can be released from the hospital, he needs to be able to process food. That will be a while and we are praying it goes quickly. For now, he is producing a lot of bile that is secreted through the NG tube. That needs to be reduced first before any food is introduced.

What a peanut...I'm so glad he's doing fine. I hope and pray that he continues to do well so that he can go home to his mom and dad.
