It's official. He is going home.

This is the white board the medical teams used to coordinate Gunnar's care.

Gunnar had the very best care. The nurses were great. They really loved Gunnar and were so attentive. Amy was very thankful for their attention.

You can see the love they have for their job and the attachments they have for their patient's. Many babies arrive from all over the northwest corner of the United States without a parent. These nurses care for the babies lovingly.

He has had his bath and is ready to get out of here.

Of course, his mom and grandma bundled him up. I think of A Christmas Story here.

Waiting for the discharge meeting.

This huge wagon is full.

These white plastic bags are full of frozen breast milk. Amy can supply a milk bank, alone.

Waiting for prescriptions.

He is waiting too.

This hospital caters to children with whimsical statues and paintings.

Amy fell in love with this mural.

It takes up an entire wall. It's a big wall....

It has great detail, which Amy appreciated.

Amy told me the mural is painted on canvas and then transferred to the wall.

It even was covered as an etching on a glass wall. Here she is explaining it to Gunnar.
Here love of diving and the underwater world is still with her. She told me how when dove in one area of Seattle, it looked just like this mural.

Gunnar will not remember his month long stay here, but it will be a meaningful memory for his parents, and grandparents.

Oh wow, I just read all of your posts about Gunnar andnow I'm up to speed. I'm so happy that he is doing better and the surgery went well. I know what it's like "living at the hospital" and feeling like it's your home away from home....I spent the first 6 yrs of my daughter's life in and out of the hospital due to her rare liver disease and liver transplant. I'm sure this has been hard for your daughter and my heart goes out to her. Obviously it's been hard for you also. I will pray for Gunnar!
Congratulations on bringing Gunnar home! I'm so glad to hear all is going well. What a strong little guy!
