Part 2, Hannah's Photo Shoot

This is Hannah's story in the weekend update.

In the struggle to parent our children, there is always a fine line between protecting them and allowing them to spead their wings. They struggle for independence and self-discovery. The difficulty, in parenting, is knowing how far to let out the security of the apron strings.

Hannah loves photography and is doing very well in her photography class. She was approached by a young and upstart band to be their photographer.

I am sure all of you moms out there can identify with the desire I had, to say, "No, this is NOT happening, and NO you are not doing this. This is not a safe enviroment. I didn't bring you into this world to be groupie and you have no idea about the world of a musician in a rock band."

Well, it was not easy, but with a few safety nets in place, ie: a big bad brother for protection, and armed with a good camera belonging to her brother-in-law, we allowed our baby to explore the world of photo journalism. Yes, we have watched the movie, Almost Famous, and she will not go on the road. But she had a great experience and this was actually a safe enviroment, a little coffee shop in a very small town and with her big brother, we felt it wasn't going to hurt her. She got the chance to do what she loves.
Here are a few of her pictures. We are proud of her.

I enjoyed looking through your blog so much! You do not look old enough or grey enough to have 5 kids! LOL

I see you battle some of the same things I do...choices and how much freedom to allow ...I think you did a good job and pics are great. Those brothers are helpful HEHE.
